Consulting beyond expectations
Forensic Consulting service expanding the concept of Jail Diversion Services, Alternatives to Incarceration, and Re-entry Services to all citizens with involvement with the Justice system. Each case is unique and should be treated as such. Here, we look at the whole picture and provide support services that consider possible alternatives to incarceration. We're glad you're here, allowing us to be a part of your story.
Information
We pride ourselves on our adaptability and commitment to excellence in meeting clients exactly where they are at and exploring all aspects of their journey. Each comprehensive completed report provides a picture of the client's journey and potential alternative outcomes.
However, that's not all; our services also include start-to-finish assistance. Once the legal case has been resolved, we stay in touch, provide mentorship services, and assist clients in finding the necessary supports to prevent future interactions with the criminal justice system.
Why is this so important?
When justice-involved individuals have adequate support, they are less likely to commit new crimes, creating safer communities for us all.
Services

Initial Screening
30 years of research have shed new light on pathways to incarceration. Using this data, each individual's unique circumstances are analyzed to see if there might be some mitigating factor that can provide a range of community-based supervision services, such as treatment.

Program Connections
We work closely with community-based programs and pair each individual with a program that meets their unique circumstances. This removes that burden from the attorney and ensures professionals in the field are pairing clients with appropriate programs.

Transitions & Continued Supports
Clients are assisted as they step down and transition from jail, prison, or different levels of community-based programming. This includes resource connections and being paired with a mentor through Citizens Helping Citizens.

Mitigation
If needed, Dr. Ellis will appear in court and report the results of the screening and available community services that would allow the client to be directed to a program rather than jail/ prison, where guards are ill-equipped to manage things like addiction, mental health, or trauma.

About us
It all began with a simple idea fueled by a deep passion. Dr. Ellis worked with the Public Defenders' office in the Jail Diversion program for many years under the late but great Bob Dillinger. Before that, Dr. Ellis worked in the Alternatives to Incarceration program in Ithaca, NY.
Dr. Ellis began studying pathways to incarceration at the age of 15 after being placed in the "Scared Straight Program." Later, she volunteered with several programs and advocated for several inmates throughout the NY State Prison System. My most honored and notable client was the late Roy Brown, an innocent man who served 15 years in the NYS DOC for a crime he did not commit. Here's his story:

Historically, these services were reserved for clients who were assigned a public defender. Dr. Ellis decided to go out on her own and expand these services to anyone who might be interested in them. For more information, click "Let's get Started" and shoot me an email. I will call you personally.
Balancing the Scales of Justice
These Services are designed to balance the scales of Justice for all citizens.
Most of all, it ensures that justice-involved individuals are heard,
and their unique circumstances are considered.
